Tōhoku Shinkansen andJōetsu Shinkansen . All six twelve-car trainsets were transferred to the Jōetsu Shinkansen as of 1999, and eight-carE4 Series Shinkansen trainsets replaced the E1 Series on the Tohoku Shinkansen.The trains have a standard seating capacity of 1,235 passengers.
