The Rustic Sphinx (Manduca rustica) is a moth of the Sphingidae family. It is found in the southern parts of the United States (straying into the northern United States at times), southward through Mexico, Central America and South America to Uruguay.

The larvae feed on Jasminum and Bignonia species and other members of the Verbenaceae, Convolvulaceae and Lamiaceae and Boraginaceae families.

  • Manduca rustica rustica (from Virginia to south Florida, west to Arkansas, Texas, southern New Mexico, Arizona, and southern California and Puerto Rico and Cuba, and then further south through Central America to Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay and Argentina)
  • Manduca rustica galapagensis (Holland, 1889) (Galapagos Islands)
  • Manduca rustica cortesi (Cary, 1963) (Mexico)
  • Manduca rustica cubana (Wood, 1915) (Cuba and Jamaica)
  • Manduca rustica harterti (Rothschild, 1894) (the Lessser Antilles including Bonaire, as well as St. Lucia)
