central Alberta . It spans from theAlberta –Saskatchewan border to the city of Edmonton. It runs parallel to the more northern Highway 16.It passes through Wainwright, Fabyan, Irma, Kinsella, Viking, Bruce, Holden, Poe, Ryley, Tofield, South Cooking Lake. Along the outskirts of Sherwood Park, Highway 14 forms a 9 km concurrency with Highway 216 (Edmonton's outer
ring road ), and then Highway 14 continues intoEdmonton asWhitemud Drive and terminates at the Calgary Trail interchange, where it connects with Highway 2.Along with
Saskatchewan Highway 40 (with which it connects at the boundary), it forms part of thePoundmaker Trail , named after ChiefPoundmaker of theCree .
