Janne Corax

Janne Corax, born 1967, is a famous Swedish cyclist and mountaineer. Corax has traveled extensively around the world, about 110 countries and has totally pedaled a distance of approximately 82 500 km on his long-distance bicycle trips. He has his basecamp in Målilla in southern Sweden.

Corax is an authority on Tibet. In 2003 he crossed the Tibetan plateau Chang Tang on bike in 45 days together with Nadine Saulnier. The Chang Tang trip resulted in a 30 minute piece of film, called "Too Tired" and is a part of the series "Into The Unknown" (showing on National Geographic's international core channel). Chang Tang is one of the most inaccessible place on earth, Tibet's barren northernmost part. It is also one of the last completely unexplored regions. Chang Tang is the world's highest plateau, approximately 400,000 km/sq of empty wilderness, with an average altitude close to the one of Everest base camp. Explorers like Prerzvalskij, Sven Hedin, Littledale and many others tried and failed. They were all defeated by the plateau's huge size, harsh climate and lack of opportunities to get provisions.
