- Carmyle Primary School
Carmyle Primary School is a primary school in
Carmyle ,Glasgow ,Scotland . The old Victorian building (and associated portable classrooms) were replaced in the mid-1970s with the famous flying saucer shape/open-plan schools design, which was a rarity in Scotland at the time. Sadly this was burned down in in a fire in 1993 and re-opened three years later with a more traditional exterior shape. It is now run under a recently appointed headmistress, Fiona McDonald, after the retirement of the previous headmistress, Marion Hughes. The current assistant head is Linda Paterson. This school was also the primary school attended by Tony Monteith, who was tragically murdered in 2004.
