The Wetlands Preserve was a live music venue in
Tribeca ,New York City that closed2001 . The club was located onHudson and Laight St. near theHolland Tunnel . Founded by Larry Bloch onValentine's Day in1989 , the club was a center for environmental activists. The Wetlands Preserve activist organization is still active as of 2008 and is now known as theWetlands Activism Collective . The last show was performed onSeptember 10 , 2001 (which featured an all-star collaboration betweenDJ Logic ,Warren Haynes , andMike Gordon ofPhish ).Many famous acts in the
jam band scene have played The Wetlands and the venue was often the first venue that major bands such asPearl Jam andRage Against the Machine ever played in New York.
