The Sanjak of Novi Pazar (Serbian, Bosnian: Новопазарски санџак, "Novopazarski sandžak"; Turkish: "Yeni Pazar sancağı"; Albanian: "Sanxhaku i Pazarit të Ri"; English also Sanjak of Novibazar) was an Ottoman
sanjak (second-level administrative unit) that existed until theBalkan Wars of 1912-1913 in the territory of present daySerbia andMontenegro .History
It was part of the Ottoman province of Bosnia and later Kosovo Province and included most of the present day
Sandžak region (named after Sanjak of Novi Pazar), as well as northern parts ofKosovo (area aroundKosovska Mitrovica ).The administrative seat of the Sanjak of Novi Pazar was in the city of
Novi Pazar . From theCongress of Berlin in 1878 until 1908, the Sanjak was garrisoned by Austro-Hungarian troops, who left in the latter year following theHabsburg annexation of neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a sop to the Turks.Following the
