Capacitor analogy

Capacitor analogy

An analogy to the capacitor in mechanical rectilineal terms is a compression spring where the compliance of the spring is analogous to the capacitance.

Representations

In this analogy:
* Charge is represented by linear displacement,
* current is represented by linear velocity,
* voltage by force.
* time by time
* energy by energy
* Electric power by power
* Electrical resistance is represented by mechanical resistance.
