Novack was an all-league and special mention Junior College
All-American atSanta Monica City College (class of 1963), and 1 team All-American at Long Beach State in 1964 and 1965. In 1966, Novack was drafted as awide receiver by the AFL'sSan Diego Chargers . After two seasons in San Diego, he met a producer playing football in a touch football league off season, he invited Novack to the studios which led to Novack embarking on an acting career.In April 1975, Novack commented to
talk show hostMike Douglas , "There were all these pretty girls around, so I stuck around." This was in response to a question Douglas asked Novack about his start in the film business. In 1977, Shelly Novack won the very first Toyota Grand Prix pro-celebrity race, and was on his way to becoming a professional Indy driver. He is remembered for his many guest roles on television shows such as "The F.B.I", "Police Story ", and "Most Wanted".Novack died of a heart attack at age 34. He is interred in the
Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery inCulver City, California .External links
