Pauline Bennett (February 26, 1876 - March 1, 1895) is, at 23 inches (58 cm) tall, recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the shortest woman ever recorded. Born in Ossendrecht, The Netherlands on February 26, 1876, she died in New York City at the age of 19 from a combination of pneumonia and meningitis.
