New South Wales ,Australia .Basic information
2UUU (Triple U) FM broadcasts 24 hours a day from the Nowra CBD. It is licensed as a public broadcaster for the Shoalhaven local government area, stretching from Broughton Village in the north to Burrill Lake in the south. This area is large enough to warrant three transmitters; these are:
* 104.5 FM- transmitting from Cambewarra Mountain. This frequency covers the central part of the listening area such as Nowra, Sanctuary Point, Huskisson and St. Georges Basin. Subject to interference in the northern and southern Shoalhaven.
* 92.3 FM- transmitting from Coolangatta Mountain east of Berry. Licensed to cover the northern part of the listening area, including Berry, Gerroa, Shoalhaven Heads and parts of the Crookhaven River estuary (Greenwell Point and Culburra). This frequency is very low powered, and was primarily designed to combat interference on 104.5 from Gosford.
* 99.7 FM- transmitting from Little Forest Trig, Ulladulla. Licensed to cover the southern part of the listening area, including Milton/Ulladulla/Mollymook,
Lake Tabourie andBurrill Lake . Again, 104.5 is subject to interference in this area (from 104.3 Batemans Bay) so this alternative frequency was needed.Programming
Programming on 2UUU is diverse, ranging from softer music such as country and western/adult standards in the daytime to more upbeat sounds (
top 40 /rock and metal) at night. The station also networks programs from the CBAA satellite (such as Pet Talk Radio), as well as Shoalhaven council meetings. The station began trial broadcasts in the late 1980s. One of its early organisers was Phil Dye, a primary school teacher and former member of the Moonshiners bush band.Fact|date=December 2007 After several successful trials, the station was finally granted a license and continues to operate until the present day.
