History

Notre Dame was founded in 1876 by the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation in Nashville and is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Knoxville. On October 19, 2007 the school began construction on a new athletic complex with planned classrooms for art and dance instruction. The athletic complex is set for completion in Fall 2009.

Notre Dame students come primarily from the Chattanooga Metropolitan area, but many students commute from North Georgia, Cleveland, or other locations.

For the past three years (2005-2007), the Lady Irish soccer team has made it to the state semifinals.
