census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,444 people, 585 households, and 372 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 1,097.6 people per square mile (422.4/km²). There were 624 housing units at an average density of 474.3/sq mi (182.5/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.24% White, 0.14% Black or African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.07% from other races, and 0.28% from two or more races. 0.14% of the population wereHispanic orLatino of any race.There were 585 households out of which 32.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.0% were married couples living together, 6.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.4% were non-families. 31.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.99.
In the village the population was spread out with 25.5% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 18.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 90.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.0 males.
