Princess Caroline was born in
Hanover ,Germany . Her father was The Hereditary Prince of Hanover, the eldest son of The Elector of Hanover . Her mother wasCaroline of Ansbach , daughter ofJohann Friedrich, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach . As a granddaughter of the Elector of Hanover, she was styled "HSH" Princess Caroline of Hanover at birth, rather than of Cambridge, the designation available to her through her father's British royal dukedom. Under theAct of Settlement 1701 , she was 7th in theline of succession to the British throne . She was baptised, the day after her birth, at Herrenhausen Palace. In 1714, Queen Anne died, and Caroline's grandfather became George I and her father
Prince of Wales . Caroline moved with her parents to Great Britain, and resided atSt James's Palace ,London . She was now styled as a Princess of Great Britain, and was known as "HRH" Princess Caroline, and later "HRH" The Princess Caroline when her father succeeded as George II in 1727.Later life
Princess Caroline died, unmarried and childless, on
