Samuelsson was chosen 119th overall by the
New York Rangers in the1984 NHL Entry Draft . He played 813 career NHL games, scoring 48 goals and 138 assists for 186 points, as well as compiling 1,225 penalty minutes. He won theStanley Cup with thePittsburgh Penguins in 1992. He retired after playing one season with theTampa Bay Lightning after the 1998–1999 NHL season. Samuelsson played the majority of his career with thePhiladelphia Flyers .Coaching career
Samuelsson was named the head coach of the Phantoms on October 23, 2006 after then-Phantoms coach
Craig Berube was named the assistant coach of the Philadelphia Flyers to fill the void left by John Stevens, who was named head coach of the Flyers afterKen Hitchcock was fired. After another mediocre season in which the Phantoms failed to make the AHL playoffs for the second year in a row, Samuelsson was demoted to associate coach of the team (Craig Berube being named as his replacement for the 2007 – 2008 season).External links
