Koinonia Christian Fellowship

Koinonia Christian Fellowship is the name of a number of different Christian churches and other organisations. The name derives from the word koinonia, the anglicisation of a New Testament Greek word for "fellowship". The organisations are generally unrelated to each other.

Bloomingdale, Ontario

Koinonia Christian Fellowship is a church in Bloomingdale, Ontario. According to their own statements they are " a body of believers whose goal is to passionately pursue "Koinonia" with God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, to develop and demonstrate "Koinonia" with one another through covenant relationship, and to expand their "Koinonia" and extend God's heart to the world by reaching the lost through personal and corporate evangelism".

They aim to do everything out of compassion for people. They place priority on the Word of God, worship, relationships, serving others, discipling believers and bringing the hope of the gospel to the world around.

Koinonia was founded in 1984 in Waterloo, Ontario. The church first met in the Waterloo Inn before relocating in 1986 to its present location in Bloomingdale, Ontario. Since that time, both property and facilities have been expanded to better serve the growing church family.

In 1993, Koinonia Christian Academy was established accommodating children from Junior Kindergarten through high school. Both the church and the school continue to thrive and grow.

Clarion, Pennsylvania

Koinonia Christian Fellowship is a student run organization at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Koinonia was founded nearly 40 years ago by students and community members who shared a vision to reach college students. It is still a community-based ministry and has continued to grow. Local Christians from many different denominations form the Koinonia Community Board, which provides support for this exciting campus ministry.

The partnership Koinonia has with the CCO has enabled more staff to work through Koinonia at Clarion University. Koinonia is a very active ministry with many different kinds of programming. We provide opportunities for students to get connected with other students, grow in their faith, develop their leadership skills, and share Jesus’ love with students on campus and in the community.

We have weekly fellowship meetings on Thursday nights that are designed to allow students to connect to God and each other in various ways. These may include worship through music, speakers, small groups, games and other activities. There are fellowship activities like casual gatherings for lunch, pizza and board game evenings, bowling, trips to Quaker Steak and Lube for wings, and spontaneous trips to Canada!

We have many spiritual development opportunities, such as weekly Bible studies, discipleship opportunities, worship nights, retreats, and conferences. Those who want to hone their leadership skills can look to our Ministry Team or Servant Leadership Team for some formal training and experiential opportunities.

Service and outreach activities are an important way we share the gospel—ranging from giving coffee and school supplies to students, feeding those in the community who need a meal, mission trips to help Hurricane Katrina victims, and on-campus evangelism projects. We also strive to help students use the gifts God has given them to further His kingdom. One example of this is the annual Koinonia Dance Concert, an event that allows students to use gifts such as dance, sign language, or music to reach out to those on campus.
