St Blazey, or St Blaise, is a small town and
civil parish in theRestormel district of mid-Cornwall , inEngland , UK. The "St Blazey" form of the name is usually used to refer to the place, whilst the parish and town council is referred to by the "St Blaise" form.Ordnance Survey (2005). The large number of visitors this attracts has led to the development oftourism in the town. copper andtin were mined in and around the parish, whilst more recently china clay has been the principal commodity mined. The port ofPar Harbour , which lies within the parish, was developed to ease the transport of these minerals, and initially connected to the mines by thePar Canal . Whilst the port of Par is within the parish, the village of Par is actually just across theRiver Par , and hence lies in the civil parish ofTywardreath .Ordnance Survey (2005). Cornwall Minerals Railway , which had a depot and station in the town, and still exists as part of the Atlantic Coast Line.
