22 April 1942 ) is a Canadiannovel ist andshort story writer ofMétis andMennonite heritage.Born in
Hamiota, Manitoba , she studied at theUniversity of Winnipeg and theUniversity of Manitoba , where she studied underRobert Kroetsch .In 1996, she moved to Regina,
Saskatchewan , where she currently resides.In January 2007, Birdsell began a four month term as the
