July 13 1963 , Livermore,California [ [http://www.discogs.com/artist/Bobby+Rock Discogs.com] ] ) is a Los Angeles based rockdrummer . He was a student of theBerklee School of Music in Boston,Massachusetts and has worked with several bands.Rock first came into national awareness with the
Vinnie Vincent Invasion . Following his twoalbum /tour stint with Vinnie Vincent he recorded with Nitro before joining the band Nelson. He would then go on to work with the bands Brunette and Hardline. He reunited with former Vinnie Vincent Invasion bandmatesMark Slaughter andDana Strum , when he toured with Slaughter, filling in for drummerBlas Elias who had prior commitments to performing with the Blue Man Group in Las Vegas.Recently Rock has also played with
Gary Hoey and the metal band Carnival of Souls, and continues to travel the country doing drum exhibitions.olo artist
Rock has also released material as a solo artist on his own
record label , Paranormal Records. The first release, 1994's "Groovin' in Tongues" is an EP featuring some original songs along with somecover version s such as "Climbing Up The Ladder" and "Frankenstein". This was a tribute to his time spent playing with some hardcorefunk bands at Lyons Ave., better known as Houston,Texas 's Fifth Ward following his studies at the Berklee. It also features a reworking of adrum solo entitled "Pedal to the Metal" from his "Metalmorphosis" video as this version also features a full band playing along to what was previously only a drum solo.His second release, 1996's "Out of Body", is a
progressive rock album featuringguitarist Brett Garsed , whom Rock played with in the band Nelson, andbassist Carl "The Fox" Carter, who was a classmate of Rock's at Berklee. The album features someinstrumental cuts with complex changes and rhythmic patterns. It also features covers of Yes' "Roundabout" andAerosmith 's "Walk This Way " along with two short drum solos.Rock then released "Snap, Crackle and Pop: Live", which features selections from a tour he did with guitarist
Neil Zaza and bassist Bill "The Buddha" Dickens. The release featured many tracks from both Rock and Zaza's back catalogs. Covers includedStevie Wonder 's "I Wish" andKool & the Gang 's "Jungle Boogie ," along with a drum solo entitled "Quadzilla".Videos
Rock has released two videos to date, 1989's "Metalmorphosis" and 2001's "The Zen of Drumming".
