Vya, Nevada

Vya, Nevada is a small ghost town located in Washoe County, in northwestern Nevada, 10 plus miles east of the California state line. Not much remains of the town, which may have died in the 1920s, but two wooden buildings can still be seen--the Vya Post Office and Library.

This area has since been developed into the [http://www.oldyelladogranch.com/ Old Yella Dog Ranch] , a working guest ranch.

In the winter of 1993, Jim Stolpa and his family became snowbound in Northern Nevada. After an almost 30-hour, convert|50|mi|km|sing=on walk, Stolpa was found near Vya. The Stolpas' ordeal was made into a movie, "".
