- Lea Bridge railway station
Lea Bridge is a closed railway station on the line between Stratford and Tottenham Hale stations. The station was located on the north side of Lea Bridge Road (A104) close to the junction of that road with Argall Way and Orient Way in the
London Borough of Waltham Forest , north-eastLondon .The station was opened on
15 September 1840 by theNorthern and Eastern Railway . It was closed byBritish Rail on8 July 1985 . Prior to its closure the station had been neglected for some years and none of the original station buildings remained and the simple open-sided shelter present in1985 on the road bridge over the tracks has also been demolished.In December
2005 a new passenger service between Stratford andStansted Airport reintroduced direct passenger services between Stratford and Tottenham Hale passing through the closed Lea Bridge station and plans are being consider to rebuild and reopen the station as part of wider plans for the redevelopment of the Stratford andLower Lea Valley area.External links
