start = 1862Woodley railway station serves the Woodley area of
Stockport inGreater Manchester ,England . The station is 15 km (9¼ miles) east ofManchester Piccadilly on theHope Valley Line service to Rose Hill Marple. It was opened in1862 by theManchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway and later became a junction when a line from Stockport Tiviot Dale reached the town in1865 . The station subsequently became jointly owned and operated by the MS&L, Great Northern Railway andMidland Railway as part of theCheshire Lines Committee system [Marshall, p.20] .The Stockport route closed to passengers in1967 , although a short section at the eastern end remains in use for goods traffic (serving a Tarmac stone terminal and waste recycling plant atBredbury ).ervices
Mondays to Saturdays, there is an hourly service northbound to Manchester Piccadilly and southbound to Rose Hill Marple. There is no Sunday service.
