Sid Owen

Sidwell Owen (born David Sutton on 12 January 1972 in London) is an English actor, most famous for playing the role of Ricky Butcher in the BBC soap opera "EastEnders", which he appeared in from 1988 until 2000, 2002 until 2004 and then again from April 2008.

Prior to his role in "EastEnders" he had a small role in the film "Revolution" in 1985. After leaving the soap he tried his hand at pop music releasing his version of Sugar Minott's 1982 single 'Good Thing Going'. The song reached no14 in the UK singles chart in June 2000. Returning to TV work, Owen took part in the fifth series of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!" (2005) where he carried out the first bushtucker trial with David Dickinson. He finished third in the series. He also took part in a celebrity boxing match with Ben Fogle, for Sport Relief, which Fogle ultimately won. Sid also starred in ITV1's prison drama "Bad Girls" as prison officer, Donny Kimber in 2006, during the shows eighth and final series. His character fell for prisoner Janine Nebeski, played by his ex-"EastEnders" co-star, Nicola Stapleton. He used to run a restaurant in Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, France.

On 30 October 2007, it was confirmed that Sid would make his return to EastEnders in the Spring of 2008. This news came 24 hours after the announcement that Patsy Palmer was also returning to the show.
