Sid Lowe, real name Simon Lowe, is a British columnist who has been covering Spanish football for the "
The Guardian " newspaper and Guardian Unlimited website since 2001. He also regularly appears (via phone) on the Guardian PodcastFootball Weekly where he gives updates on the latest news inLa Liga , the top division of Spanish football. He writes regularly for "World Soccer " and "FourFourTwo ", and "The Daily Telegraph ". He also works as a football commentator and panellist for Spanish, Asian and US television, and has acted as a translator for the footballersDavid Beckham ,Michael Owen ,Thomas Gravesen and translated a press conference forSir Alex Ferguson . In February 2008 Sid Lowe completed a PhD, titled “The Juventud de Acción Popular in Spain, 1932-1937” at theUniversity of Sheffield , UK. The thesis deals with the origins of theSpanish Civil War .
