She entered service in 2001 in a dual christening ceremony at the Port of Miami with the Norwegian Star. She was constructed at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany. Beginning in October 2010, she will be homeported at Port Canaveral, Florida.[1]

Vessel class
Norwegian Sun is the third and final ship of this design. She was preceded by Norwegian Sky (entered service in 1999, relaunched as Pride of Aloha in 2004); and Costa Victoria of Costa Cruises (entered service in 1996). NCL defines both the Norwegian Sun and Norwegian Sky as Sky class ships.[2]
Current & Future Cruises
The Norwegian Sun is currently sailing the Caribbean and will sail out of Port Canaveral rotating 7-night Western & Eastern Caribbean. Following that she will continue her 9-night Baltic Cruises as well as a single 14-night Norway, Iceland & Faroe Islands cruise, followed by a transatlantic cruise to Miami where she will sail 10/11-night Southern Caribbean cruises.[3][4][5]
