Usenet newsgroup dedicated to the collectible trading card game . These online articles spawned the popularSingle Card Strategies series. This series involved strategy writings that were characterized by a short piece of introductory fiction leading into the strategy article, ending with another short piece of fiction. Articles in this series were published in several magazines, includingInQuest ,Shadis , andWizards of the Coast 'sDuelist . The popularity of the series lead to the publication of a bookSingle Card Strategies for Magic the Gathering , written by Franzmann and edited byBeth Moursund andPhilip Kramer . While he was not responsible or involved in its creation, the title of the series was used without the author's permission in the promotions for theHarry Potter collectible card game. Though Franzmann was upset, he did not pursue legal action.Franzmann wasn't happy with the direction of his writing career and ceased writing for

Franzmann is a Polish/
Iceland icCanadian adopted into a German/Canadian family. Born inWinnipeg , he was raised in that city until the age of 6, when his family relocated to Regina,Saskatchewan . An early childhood event that impacted him greatly was the death of a schoolmate in a bicycle accident. While he did not discuss the event with friends or family, it started him on a lifelong inquiry into the concepts of mortality andlegacy . He attended one year ofHigh School at the privateLutheran college of Luther College High School in Regina before his family moved back toWinnipeg , where he attendedShaftsebury High School . During his 2nd year, he was selected to attendPhi Delta Kappa 's week long conference for future educators, as he hoped to one day pursue a career in education. The suicide of a close friend in his graduating year resulted in a change of plans, and Franzmann attended theUniversity of Manitoba , majoring inAnthropology while pursuing several different fields before settling onReligion as a minor.External links
