For the location in the eastern United States, see Cokesbury, Maryland.
Cokesbury is the retail division of the United Methodist Publishing House. While it is an agency of the United Methodist Church, Cokesbury serves Christians of all denominations. It is also the official retail outlet of the Presbyterian Church (USA), the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and the Episcopal Church.
The name Cokesbury is a combination of the last names of the first two American Methodist bishops, Thomas Coke and Francis Asbury, both elected in 1784.
The old Cokesbury store in downtown Dallas, Texas, was among the largest bookstores in the United States, in terms of both physical size and retail sales.[1]
