Plague! The college's Charter was granted by
King Edward VI in 1552. However, a school of some sort had stood on the present site since the mid-15th century.Charter Day is now celebrated with a compulsory church service for all first-year students every year in mid-June. The service is held at St. Mary's Church in nearby

The College's students are generally from within the Dudley Borough, but can come from as far afield as Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Worcester. Background education of most students is usually from State Secondary Schools, though there are several Private institutions in the area - notably that of Elmfield - a Rudolf Steiner school. As such, some pupils attend the college between the ages of seventeen and nineteen, instead of the usual sixteen and eighteen.
The Site
The college buildings are all on one site, on Lower High Street in Stourbridge. The campus is bound by the Ring Road, Coventry Street, adjacent shops on Lower High Street and the street itself, and a new housing development. As such, extension is quite difficult. However - all lessons take place on college grounds except for
Computing , ICT,Sociology andEconomics , which are held in Medusa House - a small office block near to the grounds - andDrama ,Theatre Studies andDance , academic courses which take place in Westwood House, above the shops on Lower High Street. PE lessons also occasionally occur off site, since there are no pool or pitch facilities.Trivia
The college has produced two national TV football commentators in the past few years,
Rob Hawthorne ofSky Sports andDan O'Hagan ofBBC Match of the Day .External links
