|
Politics of BermudaBermuda is divided into nine parishes and two municipalities.

Parishes

Bermuda's nine parishes are
*Devonshire (7,371)
*Hamilton (4,680)
*Paget (4,877)
*Pembroke (10,407)
*St George's (2,975)
*Sandys (6,437)
*Smith's (5,261)
*Southampton (5,804)
*Warwick (7,900)

Each of the nine parishes with the exception of St. George's covers the same land area, (2.31 square miles / 5.97 km²).

Note on pronunciation:
*The "y" in Sandys is not pronounced
*The second "w" in Warwick is not pronounced

Municipalities

Bermuda has two municipalities
*Hamilton (City) (1,100)
*St. George's (Town) (1,648)

It should be noted that whereas the town of St George's is surrounded by St George's Parish, Hamilton Parish and the city of Hamilton are not close to each other geographically.

Villages

Bermuda has two villages (unincorporated urban areas)
*Flatts Village
*Somerset Village

Another old, unincorporated settlement was cleared to make way for the Mid Ocean Golf Club and an enclave in which wealthy visitors could purchase homes, although the area is still referred to as Tucker's Town.
