Cameron Toll is a
suburb located to the south ofEdinburgh ,Scotland .Originally it was the site of a
tolbooth built in the early 19th century, which was located on a stretch of road between Edinburgh andDalkeith . The area is now dominated by a largeroundabout , which is also crossed by a railway line.Cameron Toll is 1½ miles from Edinburgh city centre, 2 miles from the Edinburgh City Bypass and is served by many bus services to and from Edinburgh and
Midlothian . It is close toThe Grange and Newington and parts of the same area are sometimes referred to as The Inch.Cameron Toll Shopping Centre
The area is home to the Cameron Toll Shopping Centre, a shopping centre built in former grounds of "Inch House", between the A7 and A701 roads. Opened in 1984, it consists of around 60 shops. These include a large Sainsbury's supermarket, and a range of other chain stores including
W H Smith ,Bhs , Virgin andJJB Sports . Originally, the Sainsbury's and Bhs stores were conjoined as one, and the whole centre tended to be colloquially known by their name: "Savacentre".A number of eating and drinking outlets, with seating, are provided on a mezzanine floor in front of the Sainsbury's entrance.
