Paul Stein

Paul Stein is an accordionist, composer, songwriter, and vocalist. Stein appeared as a guest member of the Kirov Orchestra at Avery Fisher Hall at the first Lincoln Center Festival. He has been a featured entertainer and interviewee on WNBC TV's "Live at Five" and other television and radio outlets. Stein is a regular in the annual concert/seminar series produced by his teacher William Schimmel for the American Accordionists' Association in Manhattan.

Stein's compositions include traditional klezmer pieces, as well as a range from tango to big band music. His songs range from country to labor songs to romantic show tunes. His one act musical was presented in concert format in Manhattan.

Stein performs standards in English and Yiddish. He has entertained at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, the Museum of the City of New York, and numerous other venues. A union activist, Paul was featured on a float in the New York City Labor Day Parade and performs on picket lines and at other union functions. He has accompanied the anti-war contingent in the Montclair, New Jersey July 4th Parade. Over 35 years ago, he played on the steps of the main synagogue in Moscow.
