Peter Howes is a retired professional clarinetist and the older brother of singer/actress
Sally Ann Howes . His father was British comedian/actorBobby Howes , and his mother was actressPatricia Malone . Peter Howes married Jacqueline, the daughter ofJerry Desmonde .Howes was a professional musician of primarily the
clarinet but also of thebass clarinet . His principal teacher wasReginald Kell . Among his many professional credits, he played with theLondon Philharmonic , theRoyal Philharmonic , Principal Clarinet with theBBC Concert Orchestra , and Principal Clarinet with theEnglish National Opera Orchestra. He retired in 1982 and continued as Clarinet Professor, Examiner, and Lecturer atTrinity College of Music in London.He is the author and editor of three books on the
clarinet :
