COLT Telecom Group SA (lse|COLT) is a telecommunications company providing services to major city-based customers throughout Europe. The group is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

History

In 1993 it was awarded a licence to compete with British Telecom and Cable and Wireless in voice and data transmission. It was first listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1996. The group later expanded into Europe, building networks in major European cities over the next 10 years. In 2001 Fidelity Investments helped the Company to raise a further £400m to finance its future activities. Operations

The Company is headquartered in Luxembourg, but its main centre of operations is based in the United Kingdom. It also has operations in thirteen other countries in Europe. COLT is focused on providing telecommunications services to business clients and operates in major cities only.
