Union County College is an accredited,
co-ed ucational, two-year, public,community college located in Union County,New Jersey . As the oldest community college in New Jersey, Union County College has been serving both career-minded and transfer-oriented students since 1933. Its primary facilities are in Cranford, Elizabeth, Plainfield and Scotch Plains. It enrolls approximately 7,200 fulltime and 8,500 part-time students. The College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of theMiddle States Association of Colleges and Schools .The school offers over 90 programs with degrees in Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science degree programs, and certificate programs.
History
Union County College was formerly known as "Union County Junior College." The first campus opened on October 16, 1933, in Roselle, New Jersey. 243 evening students were enrolled.

Observatory

William Miller Sperry Observatory , also known simply as the Sperry Observatory, is an astronomicalobservatory owned and operated by [http://www.asterism.org Amateur Astronomers, Inc.] on the Union County College Cranford campus. It was named after William Miller Sperry and was dedicated in 1967.See also
