Alfred Deakin High School is a school in Deakin, ACT. It is the second biggest school in Canberra and is considered as one of the best high schools in Canberra. It is named after the second Australian Prime Minister, Alfred Deakin.

History

Alfred Deakin High School is a Year 7 - 10 school which was formed in 1989 from a mixture of Deakin and Woden Valley High Schools on the site of Deakin High School. Alfred Deakin High School encourages and enjoys the confidence and support of its community, both local and more broadly across Canberra, with a considerable number of students attending from out of the designated enrollment area.

Since 1989 the school building has undergone considerable refurbishment, including the acquisition of modern kitchens, technology, including information technology and photography areas. During 1991 the school gymnasium was completed and officially opened. In more recent times special purpose rooms for dance and drama, computing, multi-media and problem solving in mathematics have been added. In early 1999 major refurbishments were completed in the science area and similar improvements to teaching spaces in Technology were completed in 2000.
