Tattenham Corner is the name of a section of Epsom Downs Racecourse, England, and also the surrounding residential area close to the station. The location is to the west of the A240, with the M25 approximately five miles to the south. Neighbouring towns are Epsom and Ewell whilst villages close by include Walton-on-the-Hill, Banstead, Tadworth, Kingswood, Burgh Heath and Banstead.

The built up area is dwarved by the expanse of the racecourse, but the Corner is best known for its proximity to where the suffragette Emily Davison killed herself by jumping in front of the King's horse at the Derby in 1913.

Transport

Tattenham Corner railway station is where Queen Elizabeth II used to be dropped off by the Royal Train on race days, and is in fact closer to the racecourse than Epsom Downs railway station. There are several bus services going through the area, towards Epsom, Sutton or Redhill.

Buildings

The buildings in the area appear to be of early twentieth century origin, and there is a parade of shops to the east of the station, providing many local facilities and supplies. There is a local library branch in Tattenham Corner.

Local area

As with many localities in the Home Counties, Tattenham Corner is not defined by clear or rigid boundaries, and the residential areas could be said to be part of Tadworth, Burgh Heath, Nork or even Epsom. Other local areas include Langley Vale and Great Tattenhams.
