The Manor House, Bishop Bridge (sometimes spelled Bishopbridge) Lincolnshire is quite a new edition to the list of manor houses.
The house was built circa 1849 and was originally two large farm cottages. These were later converted into one main dwelling and then extended upon. The manor has recently (2005) changed ownership and is now owned by John Hackett (Sir) and Lady Valentina Hackett whom have taken up residence together with their daughter, Lady Irisha.
Bishopbridge Manor is possibly one of the smaller manor houses in the British Isles but still retains many features internally complete with an Inglenook fireplace. The manor's original name shown on old deeds was "Kingerby Vale Cottage" and is thought to once have formed part of Kingerby Vale Farm Estate, which is still an active farm today.
In 1984 the property was sold to Michael George Berridge, who is an active leader in the British Naturist movement with many appearances on television.
In 1973 the manor house was purchased from Edward Squires of the 'Crown Inn' by Basil Allen - Mills, a retired Major in the British Army
In 1964 the property was sold by a 'Trust' made up of (1)Michael Francis Young of Kingerby Hall. (2)Geoffrey Mawer Cooper. (3)Sir James William Francis Hill, Knight of St Swithin's square, and (4)Gerrard Hugh Camamile of Newland Chambers.
