high school (grades 9 to 12) in the small town of Columbia, Adair County,Kentucky . It is the county's only high school.In 2005 the school had some 746 students and 45 teachers, and was eligible for
Title One support. 96% of the students were white, and the remainder included African-American, Middle Eastern and Chinese students.The school has a very strong band program. The marching band's record boasts 18 KMEA State Championships, and were named BOA National Champions Twice(2005,2007). Also, the band has been scheduled to attend the 2009
Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade . The current band has 85-90 members and is directed by Tim Allen with assistant Matt Emerson.The school also has two very successful cheerleading squads. Both the Varsity Red & Blue squads have had a "clean sweep" of all their competitions this year. Just winning KAPOS Regional’s in the Traditional & Super Large Varsity Divisions, they are headed to the state competition in Bowling Green, Kentucky at Western Kentucky University. The blue squad came away from the 2008 CANAM International Cheerleading Competition in Myrtle Beach, SC, with the most prestigious award given, the American Cheerleader Editor's Choice Award.
