COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) is an institution for higher education in
Pakistan . It comes under the umbrella ofCommission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (Asia) or COMSATS, an international organization with a wide range of interests and facilities.Currently CIIT imparts education to over 10000 students nationwide. CIIT attained the status of degree awarding institute vide the Presidential Ordinance No. XXXVIII issued on 12th August, 2000.

CIIT is ranked at 8th [CIIT ranked 8th in engineering schools of Pakistan http://www.hec.gov.pk/QualityAssurance/Ranking_lists.htm] number in the Engineering discipline according to the HEC ranking issued in 2008.
COMSATS University
The Federal Cabinet of Pakistan charter for
COMSATS University [Cabinet approval for COMSATS University http://www.ciit.edu.pk/?Link=NewsEvents/NewsDetail&NewsID=191] on Thursday, October 05, 2006 , transformed/upgraded COMSATS Institute of Information Technology into a university. The charter for COMSATS university is in line with the Model University Ordinance 2002 and would enable the university to open new departments and faculties.now it is ranked 11th.Campuses of CIIT in Pakistan
CIIT has currently six campuses around Pakistan equipped with modern facilities for the students and the faculty:
