accessdate=2008-06-23] The area is officially classified as a suburb, in the City of West Torrens, and as such is referred to as Keswick Terminal. [ [http://www.wtcc.sa.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=586 Suburbs of the City of West Torrens] ] Its postcode is 5035.
The terminal was built in 1984 as a dedicated long-haul station when Adelaide Railway Station was redeveloped for suburban trains. Adelaide Station is a terminus station, so any through trains must reverse. This is much easier for suburban railcars than for locomotive-hauled long-distance trains.
Since 1990 there have been no regional passenger services in South Australia, so the terminal serves only the The Overland to Melbourne, The Ghan to Alice Springs and Darwin, and the Indian Pacific to both Sydney and Perth, all standard gauge.
