It is located in the northern part of the province, bordering the municipalities of Morón and Florencia, as well as the province of Sancti Spíritus. To the north it borders the Bay of Buena Vista.
It comprises the communities of Chambas, Mabuya, Falla and Punta Alegre.
Demographics
In 2004, the municipality of Chambas had a population of 39,868.[2] With a total area of 769 km2 (297 sq mi),[1] it has a population density of 51.8 /km2 (134 /sq mi).
