Mawson Escarpment

Mawson Escarpment (73°5′S 68°10′E / 73.083°S 68.167°E / -73.083; 68.167) is a flat-topped, west-facing escarpment which extends in a north-south direction for 70 miles (110 km) along the east side of Lambert Glacier. It was discovered by Flying Officer J. Seaton, RAAF, of ANARE (Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions) while on a reconnaissance flight in November, 1956. Named by ANCA for Sir Douglas Mawson.
