(2005)"Golden State" is a
2001 studio album released by the Britishpost-grunge band Bush. Stylistically, it was seen as a return to thepost-grunge that Bush became famous for in contrast to their more recent experimental work. The liner notes of "Golden State" cite the album in memory of Ian Lowery, founder ofThe Folk Devils .The album's
lead single , "The People That We Love," was originally titled "Speed Kills" (which appeared on advance promo copies and early radio promos advertising the song), but it was renamed following theSeptember 11, 2001 attacks after being listed as an inappropriate song byClear Channel Communications . Regarding the name change, the band posted this message on their website:Upon release, "The People That We Love" saw significant radio play as well as
heavy rotation of itsmusic video onMTV2 . However, compared to earlier Bush hits, it has since been virtually forgotten on radio. A follow up single was not released, making this Bush's final single overall."Golden State" was released by Atlantic Records, which originally distributed "
Sixteen Stone ". While Bush appeared on theOctober 22 ,2001 edition ofChannel One News to promote the album and give away a free copy [http://www.obligation.org/article.php?recordID=625] , an act which critics of the educational program derided, Atlantic failed to thoroughly promote the albumFact|date=May 2008. "Golden State" was Bush's last studio effort, and since its release the band has remained on indefinite hiatus. Due to various disputes, this is currently Bush's only album on iTunes.Track listing
