National League Rookie of the Year award withButch Metzger . New York Mets in exchange forTom Seaver . Also joining Zachry in the deal wereDoug Flynn , and then-minor leaguersSteve Henderson andDan Norman . Zachry became a regular starter for the Mets over the rest of the season, winning seven games and lost just six for the last-place team.National League managerTommy Lasorda selected Zachry as the sole Mets representative on theAll-Star team in by|1978, but he did not play. He won ten games for the Mets by early July, but sustained an injury. Injuries also derailed his by|1979 season. When he returned to full strength, the Mets were still a last-place team, and Zachry led the league in losses with 14 in the strike-shortened by|1981 season. Following a by|1982 season that saw him lose his place in the starting rotation, the Mets traded Zachry to theLos Angeles Dodgers .Now a reliever, Zachry pitched two years for the Dodgers and pitched two games in the
1983 National League Championship Series , which the Dodgers lost to thePhiladelphia Phillies . Zachry's career ended after ten games with the Phillies in by|1985.He had a record of 69-67 in 293 games in his 10 year career. He had an ERA of 3.52 in 1177 and 1/3
innings pitched in his career.He later played in the
