Desmond Governey (born 11 September 1920) represented Fine Gael as a TD for Carlow–Kilkenny from 1969–1977 and from 1981–1982.[1] After his defeat in the 1977 general election, Governey was elected to the 14th Seanad by the Industrial and Commercial Panel, where he served from 1977–1981. He regained his Dáil seat in the 1981 general election, and was re-elected in the February 1982 general election but retired from the Dail in the November 1982[2]
He was educated at Castleknock College and was in government under his former school mate Liam Cosgrave 1973–1977.
