Background

The organization's major area of focus is opposition to homosexuality from a conservative Christian viewpoint, particularly as it relates to American youth. It also opposes what it sees as the influence of pagan and feminist spirituality, and provides a range of apologetics for Christianity. It also maintains an associated web site called "Truth at School," that is aimed towards parents and students, as well as publishing a weekly e-newsletter.

The organization is an active participant in the "Day of Silence Walk-Out" effort, an initiative intended to oppose the "Day of Silence".

The group's "School Risk Audit" program, conducted jointly by Mission America, the American Family Association, Concerned Women for America, the Family Research Council, and other groups was launched in April 2006.[1] Its stated purpose is to assess what it sees as schools' promotion of homosexuality, the criteria of which include anti-bullying programs that include acceptance of different sexual orientations, and non-discrimination policies that include sexual orientation. The plan has received support from Exodus Mandate, a evangelical Christian group supporting home-schooling.

Linda Harvey

Harvey is a radio talk show host on WRFD in Columbus, OH, and also writes commentary for WorldNetDaily. In January 2008, Linda Harvey authored "Not My Child; Contemporary Paganism & New Spirituality," ISBN 9780899570341. The book discusses the author's view that "casual occultism permeates youth culture" and suggests tips for parents as well as classroom lessons.

Positions

In August of 2011, Linda Harvey made the assertion on her weekend radio show that "There is no proof that there’s ever anything like a gay, lesbian or bisexual or transgendered child, or teen or human,"[2] as well as also stating the same month and year that openly gay people should not be allowed to teach in public schools.[3]

Earlier in 2011, Harvey had asserted that gay rights advocates were "masters of demonic manipulation"[4] while speaking as a guest on Peter LaBarbera's radio program. She has also referred to the "It Gets Better" video project as "wrong, it's evil, it's dark."[5] In that same broadcast she referred to LaBarbera as her good friend. LaBarbera heads the organization "Americans For Truth About Homosexuality."

Harvey has also written in defense[6] of organizations listed as anti-gay hate groups by the Southern Poverty Law Center.[7]
