Jon Dorenbos (pronEng|DORN-bahs) (born July 21, 1980) is an American football long snapper in the NFL who currently plays for the Philadelphia Eagles.

High School Career

Dorenbos attended Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, California, and was a letterman in football, basketball, and baseball. Afterwards, he attended the University of Texas-El Paso.

NFL career

Buffalo Bills

After college, Dorenbos was signed as a long snapper by the Buffalo Bills in 2003 as an undrafted free agent. His first two years in the NFL he started for the Bills, and in 2004 lead the league in tackles at his position.

Tennessee Titans

In 2005-2006 he started for the Tennessee Titans.

Philadelphia Eagles

Dorenbos took over as long snapper for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2006 after Mike Bartrum suffered a neck injury. (When he joined the Eagles in the middle of the 2006 season, they started a 7-game winning streak until they lost in the divisional round of the playoffs.) Dorenbos is currently the starting long snapper for the Eagles for the 2007 season.

On December 29th, 2007 Dorenbos signed a five-year contract extension with the Eagles. It will make him an Eagle through 2012.

Personal

Dorenbos' mother was killed by his father when he hit her in the head with a power tool. His father was convicted and put in jail for 15 years. Dorenbos has taken this experience and used it to turn around his life. He gives a great motivational speech drawing from his rise over adversity and has spoken to many corporate groups and organizations all over the country.

Dorenbos is also a professional magician, who has performed in Las Vegas. He is the preferred magician for many celebrities and is known as the "Magician of the NFL" by his peers. He also is respected as a public speaker and is represented exclusively by CAL Entertainment in Los Angeles.

Dorenbos' inspirational life story of triumph over adversity has been retold on national television in features by HBO, FOX Sports, ESPN, E! True Hollywood Story: An American Story, The Montell Williams Show, ABC, and CBS. He also appears regularly on the local sports casts in the cities that he plays for. He is known as the All-American, fun-loving, entertainer of the NFL, and to many fans and players he is simply known as "The Magician".

Dorenbos started a "custom framing" business with a partner while playing with the Buffalo Bills. They make high end frames for sports memorabilia for many celebrities and sports figures.

Jon Dorenbos also appeared in the 2006 movie Beerfest as an uncredited cast member.
