Esther Lai

Esther Lai is Principal of Meridian Junior College (MJC). Since the college started operations in 2003, she has led the college to become one of the more distinguished ones in Singapore.

Ms Lai was the former principal of Tanjong Katong Secondary School (TK) which she led to become one of the country's top 20 secondary schools. Under her tenure, TK achieved the Singapore Quality Class status, Autonomous status, School Distinction Award, Best Practice Awards, Sustained Achievement Awards and to the current Band 3 in the school banding system. Upon her commencement at Meridian Junior College, several staffs from TK crossed over.

In addition to that, her relentless encouragements to her students have strived many to achieved great heights.

Prior to her service at TK, Lai was the Vice-Principal of Serangoon Junior College (SRJC).

Lai is, in addition, an extremely supportive principal, allowing herself to be subjected to dunking for charity during the recent MJC Open House in 2007.

She is a very supportive principal, who recently endorsed the 5th Students' Council attempt to create the largest bottle caps art in the shape of the school crest.

Lai enjoys cooking. It is rumoured that she plans to teach one student how to cook Chili Crab before she retires.
