Adwell Cop is an archaeological site between Adwell and Tetsworth. One theory suggested that the
Danes built fortifications there when they burntOxford in 1010. When the nearby M40 was constructed, excavations were made at the site, revealing three graves, one of which was a child. A bronze buckle was found on the site, dating to the 7th century. St Mary's Church, a building of flint and stone in mixed styles, was restored very thoroughly in 1865. Adwell House is the seat of the Birch Reynardson family.Nearby Villages
