- Irish Cricket Union
The Irish Cricket Union ( _ga. Cumann Cruicéid na hÉireann), also known as CricketIreland, is the governing body for
cricket inIreland (both theRepublic of Ireland andNorthern Ireland ), and oversees theIreland cricket team .Ireland's greatest cricketing success to date was a victory by three wickets over Pakistan in a
2007 Cricket World Cup group match. This was sadly overshadowed by the sudden death of the Pakistan Coach Bob Woolmer. Ireland also managed to beat the West Indies in their prime in 1928 and put in a good performance against Bangladesh and won in the world cup.The Irish Cricket Union was formally dissolved on 3rd February 2008 at its annual general meeting. A new board with 11 members will run cricket in Ireland and encourage "increasing professionalism that is needed in modern sport".
